I learned a lot this Christmas. I learned things don’t always turn out like you imagine they will.
And that you may have to open the gifts for a sick little one who doesn’t feel like doing it herself. And that’s okay.
I learned that no matter how big a boy gets, he still enjoys playing with toys and will jump at the chance to put a transformer together to “help” a child.
I learned, if you give us an iPad and a Photo Booth App, we will be entertained for hours.
I learned to make sure to turn off the TV before taking random photos on Christmas morning.
I learned the only way to get in the picture is to ask someone to take it. And that when looking back at the pictures I can get a glimpse into my heart. I can see my joy as I sit quietly soaking in my family around me.
Hand off YOUR camera. Make that one of YOUR New Years Resolutions.
And I learned that toy parts have gotten smaller over the years and I will still be searching for missing pieces until next Christmas.
And I learned that these are the moments that make life… pretty amazing.

Thanks for letting us into your home on Christmas morning. You captured it all so beautifully. I never make it into those kinds of shots at home. Only in the staged ones, where we all smile at the camera. I’m sorry your baby girl was sick on Christmas day. It sucks to be sick on any day, let alone Christmas. Hope everyone is well for the New Year celebrations!

AAAHHHH!!!! THis post was FANTASTIC! My mama heart could SO relate to the many things you wrote/learned. I have to say I am coveting that snow. We had a couple rainy days here. That’s mainly how our winters are. Not cold enough to snow so we just get endless rain and muddiness. Thanks for your sweet comment.

Good words… I hate having my picture taken and (vainly) hate all the pictures people manage to snap of me…. but there just can’t be no pictures of me with my kids. As a kid, I loved looking back at old albums… for my kids’ sake, I have to have some pictures of me, too. Guess it’s time to stop scowling at my husband’s camera.

I know what you mean. Very rarely do I feel like I look OK in a photo. I’ve gotten better about not deleting the bad ones and letting them just “be”.
