This is “The Plant”. Actually this is more like my step child. When I married David this was part of the package deal. “Plant” has been alive for 12 years. He has been through his share of trials and tribulations but has always bounced back. At this point it is touch and go. I fear that if he doesn’t make it, David will never speak to me again. Because this is sort of all my fault.
I will explain later.

I have tried valiantly to keep alive an African Violet my Dad had in his apartment when he passed away. It apparently doesn’t like my new apartment.
My sister on the other hand has no problem whatsoever with the Christmas Cactus she adopted when our grandfather died … back in 1978!! I think the violet is doomed. I often semi-joke that I couldn’t grow a Chia Pet, so don’t feel bad about David’s plant.

My mom gave me one of the potted plants from my stepdad’s funeral. I, who kills all green things, managed to keep it alive, if not thriving, for 3 years. I couldn’t take the pressure any more and made her take it back. Twelve years is a long time to keep a plant going. Lots of pressure, there. Yikes.
